Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

cabbage patch kids are expensive!

I am not paying $25+ for a doll. Is there a cheaper one or a place to find a cheaper one???

Re: cabbage patch kids are expensive!

  • My baby has one, and it was given to her as a gift.  I'd pay it if it was the only one I was planning for her to own.
  • They are!!  My mom and I were at TRU today and they didn't really have a good selection.  I still have mine from when I was little.  I might just have to pass those on to DD.

  • Not only are they expensive, they are hard to find. I have been looking for one everywhere in town for my DS. The only ones I can find are girl dolls... I wanted him to have a boy one.

My Walmart has the "surprise" newborn ones that you do not find out if they are boys or girls until you get home by what color diaper they are wearing. I opened all of them at 3 Walmarts so far and every single one of them are girls. I do not want a surprise baby (hell, I did not even want my own real baby to be a surprise) so yeah, not my finest moment opening them all but, I put them all back together.

I feel like my mother must have felt back in the 80's when I was little trying to find me one.

  • It's better than the $95 American Girl dolls!

    OMG no way.

  • DD has one she got as a gift.  She loves that thing.  She carries it around, pushes it in the doll stroller, feeds it, drags her by the hair, etc.  I still have mine from when I was little and they were scarce.

  • I think dolls in general are more expensive than they should be. I just wanted a nice but simple doll for dd's 1st bday and ended up spending 19.99 and that was a sale on Amazon for Baby Stella. When I was looking at dolls, most of them were in the 25-30 dollar range.

And then of course you have the $95 American Doll.

  • My SIL is giving my 14 mo old a Bity Baby American Girl doll for Christmas!  They also shop at Pottery Barn frequently!  I could never bring myself to spend that!  I'm cheap! :)

  • DD has three that belonged to me and loves the newborn preemie the best, FWIW. But they're all pretty awesome in her opinion.

I didn't realize that they even still sold or made CPKs.

  • You can order the surprise newborn ones online at TRU. You can pick the gender, hair color, and eye color. I'm thinking of getting a little boy one for my nephew.

  • I just got online at TRU and could not figure out how to order them with specifics like gender and eye color... only by race.
  • TJ Maxx has them for $15-20 both boy and girl, and bald newborn ones and toddler ones with hair/shoes.
  • Hm. I actually don't think that's too bad.

A CPD was the first present I bought for someone. I was in second grade, and I bought Dyanna Cammie for my little sister. She was $20. I put her on layaway for two months.

  • My TJ Maxx is loaded with them right now. I love Cabbage Patch Kids! I keep wanting to buy myself one. I will resist though!

  • I got one at Wal Mart for $9. I don't remember what they are called, but they are like newborns. There are like 4 different ones to choose from.
