Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Lindsay...I responded to your post below re: testing

Anytime they take anything from you (gallbladder, tumor, baby, placenta, kidney) they have to send it to pathology. It is just to make sure what they took from you was "normal" such as it will read "normal fetal tissue" or molar tissue. They are not testing the baby so you will not find out if something was genetically wrong with the baby. If they were doing chromosomal testing they make you sign a release form and then 1/2 of the tissue is sent to pathology and 1/2 is sent to genetic testing. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions let me know. I unfortunately went through it 3 times;(

  • FWIW, this is what my doctor said too, that they are just testing to see if the tissue is normal and what they expected.

  • I found this out yesterday as well.  I was hoping to know more about my last pregnancy and why it ended.  However, they only looked for structural abnormalities, not chromosomal testing.
