s/o house fire If you want to help MarineWife51

This is the story about their house fire. It appears as though they lost almost everything because of smoke and water damage.

in the comments, one of their neighbors left an email address:

We are neighbors to them. If anyone would like to help them out, I am trying to find out what they need so our family can try and help them out. I believe they have a 6 month old & a 2 yr old, both boys. I can be emailed at michellev@naiwm.com.

MarineWife, if you read this, let us know what you need.  I'm sure some ladies here have some clothes in their closets or maybe some boys clothing they'd be willing to send you. You're a skinny mini so i cant help you in the clothing department :) but my H might have some stuff he can pass along to your husband.

Also, I'd be happy to head up some sort of donation collection on paypal if anyone is interested in doing one.

  • I'm all about it!?

Let me know what I need to do to help.?

I have a couple bags of my clothes I was going to give to Salvation Army, but I can save those for her (I just need to know her sizes). I also have bin after bin of boys clothes, and don't mind giving some to her sons.?

  • We lost everything in a house fire when I was 14 years old.  I can relate to their situation as a child but not an adult.  Please let me know what I can do to help them out.  I only have baby girl clothes but I would love to make a donation of some kind.

  • I'd love to help as well!

  • I have a box of pants and some tops that I was saving to maybe fit into one day they are sizes 2 and 4 (for pants), but I really don't see that happening anytime soon. But I am also short (5'2).

  • sry for typos, nursing & typing.

ive helped a few families that have lost their homes and one of the best things (imho) to send are gift cards.  they may not have a place to store a ton of clothing right now & it gives the sense of normalcy (being able to go out & shop), in a way.

let me know what ends up happening with donations, id love to help.

  • The best idea if you want to send something is to contact the news station who covered the story. They would be able to point you in the right direction as far as donating, so you're not sending money to people on the internet. That is a bad idea - speaking from personal experience here.

can you go dump your crap somewhere else? kthxbi. no one stole your money and no one cares. we are looking for clothing and toy donations for the most part. as that is what is probably most needed. and those items would be sent directly to her and not filtered through anyone. that's why the paypal thing was listed as a secondary.

but thanks for casting that shadow of doubt, once again, where its not necessary. take your little rain cloud somewhere else.

Not to take Philosoraptor's side, cause I'm not, but there is usually a fund set up with a local bank or through the local chapter of the Red Cross after a fire. It could just make it easier to do the donation, even for the clothes, etc., if it is through the Red Cross.

thats fine but that was not her motive behind posting this. she could have said what you did and this wouldnt even be an issue.

if she wasnt so shady she would tell y'all why she posted that. and then me, SMfinallyMG or mrs.jenni can tell you the truth.

  • I have done a few fundraiser things with MB IRL and I can tell you the  donations always make it where they are supposed to. We have one on Friday. There are plenty of nest witnesses to back this up. I think it is sad you're trying to lump her in with the whole Kimi giving 100 fake addresses thing so no one could send her gift to her.

MB and I were not even involved with that. We know the people IRL but we did not donate or even facilitate anything with that mess.

I just bagged up 3 bags (and many more to come) of clothes to send to goodwill.  I would love to give them to someone who needs them.  There are lots of different sizes.  Most of them are petites though since I am only 5'2".

    Please let us know!

  • FYI ladies, I emailed MarineWife directly to let her know we want to help if we can. I will keep you all posted.

I emailed her, too. We live close to where they are in MI and could easily drop off clothes or other tangible items.

Ditto this. She is about 5 minutes away from my work.

Kate, we could try and facilitate some sort of donation through the local board? What do you think?

Wow, defensive much? I don't believe I mentioned you or anyone else. My motive by posting that was don't send anyone money through Paypal in a situation like this. Use proper channels such as the Red Cross, Salvation Army, etc., unless you're local and have the intended recipient's permission.

Stop bringing up things of which you have zero legitimate knowledge.

wow, full of sh*t much? you're full of it. but that's nothing new.

it had a crappy tone and motive and you know it. not to mention you had to get your dig in there where it was totally inappropriate. had you said ^that^ before, there would never had been an issue. but you didnt, so its very clear to myself and others what you were doing.

if you dont want to partake in this effort, thats fine. but if you want to continue to piss all over it, please click the little x on this window. seriously, you need to work on your social skills.

  • I absolutely want to help. Please keep us in the loop.
  • Please keep us posted - I'll help in whatever way I can.
  • Thank you for posting the article. I want to help. I cried when I read about him being an Iraq vet and the firefighter saving his medal of valor.
