Medela PISA questions

I have a PISA and have a few questions...

How often are you supposed to change the membranes?

The tubing-it gets condensation in it so I let the pump run with just the tubes hooked up-but then you get the dried up water marks on the tubing-is that ok? I'm sure it does no harm, just doesn't look pretty.

Re: Medela PISA questions

  • I don't pump very often so I don't know about the membranes.?

I was told by the NICU nurse that the condensation was fine as long as it wasn't mold just water. When I wash toys and binkies I toss the tubing in too and it does fill with soapy water so I then dry them with the pump like you said. ?

  • I've been changing the membranes every 3 months or sooner if I notice a dip in my output.

  • I washed my tubing yesterday.  When I was done I put them on the pump and ran it for like 5 minutes.  There were no marks left on the tubing.

This. If I there's no other reason for poor output (parts are all hooked up correctly, membranes flat, etc.) that's my last step in troubleshooting.
