Question from a 3rd Tri-er. How accurate was your growth u/s?

I'm 34w and LO measured 5lb. 15oz on his u/s today; plus the tech said he has a rather large head. DH and I were 7-8 lbs each, so I wasn't expecting to have a large baby. I also heard that these things can be off by up to 2 lbs. Was yours accurate? TIA!

she was measuring two weeks ahead, and came two weeks ahead, lol. they estimated her at 8 lbs, 13oz, and she was 8lbs, 8oz. Pretty darn close!

Well, I was told about 6 pounds. He weighed in at 9 pounds 6.9 ounces. So yeah mine was way off. I was told this around 37 weeks.

A week before I had DD, her estimated weight was 8lbs 12oz. She was 7lbs 4oz at birth.

I had a growth ultrasound the day DS was born. They estimated him to be 9lbs. 12oz. and he ended up being 8lbs. 2oz.

At 37 weeks, I measured at 8lb 6oz and at 41 weeks he was born at 8lb 4oz, so I would say off by quite a bit. His head was big though both IRL and on u/s. In the 95th percentile.

I had one the day before I went into labor, estimating "upper 7 pounds." Little man weighed in at 9 lbs 2 oz. Not even close.

LO was measuring 6lbs per the U/S around that time, she was born 1 week early at 8lbs 8ozs. Per the U/S they wanted to move my due date up about 4 weeks. Obviously it was wrong and I am SO glad my doctor didn't change it.

at 36 weeks they said 7lbs 8 oz. 3 weeks later she was 7 lb 5 oz. They were guessing she would be 8.5 to 9 lbs. So WAY off.

at 37 weeks they estimated that when I was going to be induced at 39 weeks the baby would weigh 7lbs 9oz, he ended up weighing 6lbs 11oz. Almost a pound off.

They were off by 5 oz on my u/s... DD was 7 lbs.

Both of my friend's babies were estimated to be around 7-8 lbs and they were 9.9 and 9.8!

My doctor actually told me the average weight of your DH and yourself at birth is a good ball park estimate. I was 5.4 and DH was 6.11. DD was almost 2.5 weeks late at 7 lbs, so thats about right..

Mine was pretty close. At 38w, baby measured 7lbs, 2 oz. He was born a little over 2w later at 8lbs, 5 oz.

Growth U/S at 37wks said 7lbs 3oz. She was born at 40wks 6 days and weighed 7lbs 7oz, so it was not super accurate.

at my 37wk growth u/s he was estimated to be 8lbs 8oz. and was born at 37wks and 3days and was 8lbs 6oz. His head measured big and was big when he was born

WIth DD, yes, accurate within an ounce.

With DS, no, off by 2 pounds. He was much larger than they thought he'd be, but it didn't affect the birth at all - he was born at home without serious complications.
