This is seriously the best stranger comment ever:
Stranger: "Oh, you are pregnant! When are you due?"?
Me: "March 8th."
Stranger : (cocked head to side, furrowed brow, falsely sympathetic voice) "Oh.... is the father still in the picture, dear?"
Me: (jaw dropped, total F-U look on my face) "Uh, yeah... we're married..."
I really wish I had had something much wittier to say, but at the time, I was totally thrown off guard. Even if he wasn't, how is that ANY of her business? People are insane. ?
Re: Things that make you go "hmm"
Wow. Just wow.
(Maybe you look very young? And she assumed that you were in high school or something?)

Still definitely inappropriate to ask.
Wow.
Oh, I know. But just trying to figure out WHY someone would say something like that and the only reason I can think of is if the OP looks like she's 16. Then I could MAYBE understand.

I DO look young... I get carded for rated R movies, let alone alcohol. But seriously. If I WAS 16 and pregnant, I don't think thats the kind of "support" I'd want from people. It just blew me away...
I would have said one of two things... no he died... and sob or "I don't even know who the father is there were so many guys that night'
Where were you when I needed you?!
?
I've been asked that question twice now. Seriously . . . are all the rude people mass-producing like bunny rabbits?
WTH?!?!?!
Do you look like a hussie? lol. That is so strange and not to mention rude! Some people...
I am a therapist at a mental health clinic and many of my clients live lives where it is the norm for a baby to not have a father in the picture. Yesterday I was talking to one of my clients and she was asking about the baby. She said "Are you and the father still together" and as I was about to say something nasty back, it occured to me that in her world it would be totally normal if we weren't. Sad by true.
But honestly, in a setting like what you're talking about, that stranger's comment was just flat out rude and i would have been blunt "That is an extremely rude thing to ask. In fact we are still together, but for you to assume that my baby's father would leave me is appalling."
