TTC After a Loss

Dr's appt with the new Gyn didn't turn out so well :(

She told me to really think about getting pregnant again due to the fact I had a PE the week before my 19th Bday.I was told by my prior Midwife the PE was due to using Birth Control Pills, the new Gyn said that it was probally cause by some underlying blood disorder. She told me the odds of me getting another PE during my pregnancy and it can be dangerous. It's totally up to me on what I decide to do,but she said if I choose to TTC again to start taking Prenatals(Stopped taking them months ago)again. She also told me that the spotting I've been having is a REAL Period just a "Light" one.Huh?

Did she even mention testing you for an actual blood disorder or putting you on Lovenox? I don't know why this stupid state is so anti-Lovenox, but if you have had a previous PE, I would think it would be a no-brainer.

I'm sorry things didn't go well, seems like theres no shortage of sheisse doctors out there these days.  Although the prenatals advice is good, I don't know what PE means...

Have some wine, it helps. Drinks

I'm sorry you didn't leave there with more news.  Hopefully this is a good starting point with you and the new Dr.

Hang in there.  You will get that LO!

I'm sorry love, that is so disappointing. I think Rhody made a good point in her post, so I defer to her on practical matters.

Can I offer you alcohol or your doc a throat punch?

I have to go to bed now, but insist on being tested for all clotting disorders and insist on a referral with either Maternal-Fetal Medicine or OB Medicine at Women & Infants, no matter what OB office you end up with. They can help sort this out.

lots and lots of good advice!

MAKE your OB test you for the clotting disorders.  If they won't, FIND A NEW OB. They don't sound proactive at all.  Someone out there will do the testing.  Chances are it sounds like you may test positive for something (not a dr just someone w/ some experience on the matter!!) but so many of them are manageable like other posts above have mentioned.

I've met w/ a genetic counsellor (I have MTHFR which is a gene mutation clotting disorder) and also a MFM specialist.  So pretty much this means I have a biatch-load of dr's watching me next time.

My mother had a DVT caused by birth control and went on to have 2 successful pregnancies so YES bcp can be the issue in some people.  Everyone is different and that is why you need testing.  They can't ASSUME you have an underlying issue.

    best of luck to you!
