Day 3 poop strike help

Any advice? I feel so bad for her because I know she has to go and not sure what to do. She was in the bath and started grabbing herself and screaming but no luck. She was then rolling around on the ground and crying and pushed us away anytime we came near her. She stopped and then started playing and it was alreayd bedtime so didn't have time to check into things. We have never gone this long. Thinking a lot of the reason is because she was in the car for 9 hours yesterday and never goes while sitting down.

She won't drink juice so wanted to see if anyone knew of anything else to do.

  • Are we talking about poo? Prunes, blueberries, beans all get things going for my daughter.

  • Blueberry applesauce works wonders for DS. Have you tried making the juice into a popsicle? I freeze apple juice that way and DS loves it.

There are also suppositories you can give them. The hospital gave us a bunch right after DS's surgery.

  • Applesauce and prunes. On a day he has trouble I usually limit dairy and give him applesauce with every meal. Oatmeal is good too.

  • My DD had a lot of trouble with constipation when we first started solids.  Here's a couple things we did: Miralax (the adult stuff, pedi said it was fine, a few other drs agreed, and yes - it helps a lot) mixed into her milk/juice/food; plenty of water, keep her very well hydrated; peaches (the silver bullet for us); asparagus; pears...  Oh, and put her in a warm bath and rub her belly in a clockwise pattern, sort of a circle around her belly button - that helps to move things along.  Of course, you might have a tub full of poop, but....

If she's really really stopped up (and it sounds like she is) you might call your pedi and ask about glycerine suppositories.  My pedi didn't recommend them, he said the tissues are so soft that you don't want to tear them when you put the suppository in, but I've heard other Drs say they're really helpful.  Ask your pedi and see what he/she says.

  • mandarin oranges (out of the can)!!!!!  they do the trick here every time!!!
