FB announcements usually don't bother me BUT

my friend just updated her status to read "is excited to announce that we are 5w5d pregnant."

Two things:

1. How gutsy is it to announce that early? I would never do that for fear of m/c

2. I HATE it when people say "we are pregnant". No honey, you are pregnant. If you want to include your hubs say we are expecting - drives me crazy.

And why does everyone on FB need to know exactly how many days pregnant you are? Just say 6 weeks or almost 6 weeks...even one month. I think of the _w_d things as something used when talking about fertility or the growth of the baby...

This drives me crazy also. "oh wow, you have a uterus also??...how strange!"

I don't really feel like FB is a good place to make your announcement. I mean, I have people I'm "friends"with who I haven't seen in YEARS (and may never see again) ie random ppl from college etc. Do they really need to know you're pregnant? I feel like it's kind of personal for FB.

I have been thinking a lot about this lately and don't think when we get pregnant or decide to adopt that I will post it on FB. ?I always thought I would until I experienced IF and the heart break that I get when I see another?announcement?and belly pictures. ?Our friends and family will know when we are ready and if they post something that is fine. ?I don't know...maybe I'll change my mind if we do get pregnant.

Yea I'm am 100% sure I won't post anything about it. I didn't post when we got engaged...and this feels the same way to me.

I feel like any posting about being pregnant is almost like "bragging"....again maybe this is the IF speaking, but I don't think so.

i can't wrap my head around sharing that early. or even saying i was a certain amount of days pg to anyone outside of the nest.

this may be slightly flameful but i also don't really get the need to announce on fb. i don't think i will ever make a big fb annoucement. the people in my life who are close enough to me to know i am pg will know when i tell them.

ditto on both but i REALLY hate the 2nd one. i've told DH if i ever hear him use that phrase, we're getting a divorce.

DH HATES it when people say "We are pregnant". ?He doesn't complain much, but that is one of his biggest pet peeves!

Same thing happened recently to me -- a much younger co-irker of mine, who had just been complaining that it was taking them SO long to get pregnant after 2 months of trying, posted as her fb status that she was so excited to be 5 wks pregnant.
