Can we talk about the couple who got into the dinner at the White House?

I don't understand why the CIA and feds are wanting to charge these people.  Sure they got into the dinner, but the CIA are the ones who effed up.  They shouldn't have made it to a freaking parking spot, if they were not invited. The fact they got past all of those agents is a bit terrifing.  I think Obama needs a new security group.

    I am not so concerned with them being charged as with the fact that they are getting so much press for this! Sounds like they are getting what they wanted, a lot of attention!

    I can kind of see where they're coming from by charging them though.   I think they're thinking of charging them with some sort of fraud for misrepresenting themselves.

    They shouldn't have got past security, obviously, but they also were trying to do something wrong.  If you try to steal clothes and don't get caught by security it's still wrong- I think that's the logic that is being used.

    I think that basically they want to set a strong precedent so others don't try to follow suit.  They could have come in and shot Obama, or brought in Anthrax, etc. and whether you like or don't like Obama, entering without premission should still not be allowed.

    The Secret Service messed up, not the CIA. The CIA has nothing to do with this case since their jurisdiction is outside of the US.

    Yes, it is cause for concern that they were able to get through all security measures. I also think they should be charged for the same reason a PP stated. What they did was still wrong, whether they got away with it or not.

    The reason they're being charged is that lying to the Secret Service is a felony. Bottom line, they misrepresented themselves to some security checkpoint person or another and got in. That's fraud.

    Also, to be nitpicky, it wouldn't even technically have been the Secret Service's fault they got in. TECHNICALLY, the WH office of Social Affairs/Events was in charge of the guest list, and it's been reported that the three people in charge of making sure the names on the list matched the actual attendees were INTERNS and an intern supervisor! SMRT.
