Hi! I have been lurking and figured I'd introduce myself. I am 29 and been married for about 6 months. We are TTC for about a month now. I just read that testosterone shots pretty much eliminate sperm so now I am en fuego with DH's Dr. I always felt like he prescribed too many drugs. So, we may be trying a while.
Re: New Here!
Welcome! I was also wondering what the testosterone shots were for.
Best of luck to you and your DH!

Hi! My DH has always had trouble maintaining his weight and at some point his Dr. discovered he had low testosterone levels and perscribed a bi-weekly shot which was supposed to help. DH asked him if the low testosterone meant he had low sperm and he said not neccesarily, but it could. It just upsets me because I guess he didn't specifically ask if the shots would affect sperm, but he did ask a sperm related question and he was never warned. The research I have been reading says it takes 4-6 months for sperm count to get back to normal. But, we haven't been real good about doing the shots on schedule, so I am hoping that helps some.
His BF goes to the same Dr and was also perscribed the shots due to the discovery of a low count (but no weight problem). They are also having trouble TTC.
I think the doctor should have been more up-front about the effects, but what can you do right? Good luck anyway!!
It is discouraging that his Dr didn't mention the possible fertility concerns before prescribing the shots. I would definitely speak to his Dr. I know there are health concerns for men that have low testosterone. So, it is something that your DH may need to be treated for. But, surely there is an alternative way to treat his problem that wouldn't cause fertility issues.
Good luck!
