Does your Hubs Snore!?!? Please help me (and the baby)!

So my lovely Hubs snores and I have taken to wearing ear plugs to sleep.  Side note- he had nose surgery to try to fix the problem but it did not help.  I am concerned about either not hearing the baby due to wearing ear plugs or not getting any sleep due to his snoring.  Anyone else with kids have this problem?  What did you do?  Please help!

  • Not to get too personal, but is he even slightly overweight?  My husband never snored when he was skinny - he eventually gained weight, snored like a Mack truck, lost the weight and no longer snores.

  • My husband's nickname at work is chainsaw because his snoring is louder than the engines on the plane.  He wears a breath right, sleeps on his left side and we finally bought a humidifer and that seems to be helping a little bit.  He got fitted for a mouth guard to help, but never ordered it.  When his snoring is really bad, like when he's sick, he has to sleep on the couch.

It's funny at times because he'll snore so loud that it will wake him up and startle him.  And MH is at a healthy bmi weight so his weight has nothing to do with it.

  • Mine snored like he was a freakin' lumberjack sawing logs all night until he got a CPAP machine. He has Sleep Apnea and snoring was just a symptom.

Now, I sleep to the soothing *woosh* sounds of the air machine.

  • Dear God yes! DH sounds like a lumber jack when he snores....I usually get him to roll over on his side and he stops for a little while. Iam trying to talk him into having an apnia test done to see if he suffers from that.

Same here.... the CPAP machine helps so much!

  • Unfortunately my DH could have written this post about me!  Since being PG I have picked up this lovely habit.

  • OMG...my H snores so much and so loud! I wear earplugs and have a white noise machine on the table beside the bed. He's done a sleep study, had surgery to repair a deviated septum (sp?), and still snores his arse off! He's not overweight and is in fact the most physically fit person I know (6-pack abs and all).

I am also concerned about what I will do when LO gets here, because I'll need to hear her on the monitor, but how will I ever sleep without my earplugs and white noise?

I swear mine has sleep apnea, but won't get tested. He's a big baby

  • My dogs can snore really bad sometimes, I end up putting my pillow over my head because ear plugs don't work for me.  GL!

  • Yeah, my DH snores pretty badly as well.  When we started dating, he never snored (it was one of the things I really liked about him - lol!) but now that he's gained a little weight, plus the pollution in Beijing affecting his asthma, it's just gotten worse and worse.

Usually it wakes me up when he's rolled over onto his back, so I just kick him until he wakes up and changes positions.  (I figure he woke me up so it's fair if I wake him up too.)

I can't wear earplugs because I get terrible nightmares of drowning and wake up screaming so it's not really an option for me.

He's suggested sleeping in seperate bedrooms, but I can't stand the idea of that.

Don't know what else to do about it really.

So far the solution has been for me to go to sleep first since I'm a heavy sleeper and if I can just get to sleep, I usually won't hear him snore.  With LO, I have no idea what we'll do...
