The best time to do this on on the 1st of the month when they release new batches. The hot ones here are Ted's Montana Grill and they are limited so you have to be fast
I was skeptical too until an IRL friend told me she uses them on vacation all the time! When in doubt you can always call the participating restaurants and ask them about the GCs so they can reassure you they accept them. You simply print your GCs off after purchase.
We have Ted Montana's here as well. The one I bought and used was to a Cajun restaurant! We got like $75 of food for only around $30 (including tip). It was awesome! Plus we got to try a new place.
