Definitely worth it - we haven't really started using it yet because LO is still sleeping in our room, but as soon as we move him into his nursery I think it will be great. I've tested it out during nap/playtime in his crib in the nursery and it's awesome.
We haven't had to use it a lot yet since LO is still sleeping in our room but I really like it. I recommend getting the one with the handheld screen though. Ours isn't wireless so we ended up buying a set of sound only ones too.
We also found ours on ebay brand new for only $100.
Now I don't have a video monitor, but I do have a sounds only monitor (Sony BabyCall) and it's sufficient for us. We live in a two floor house (3, if you count the basement) and since I can tell the difference between her cries, I know when I have to go check on her. I know when she's hungry, bored, or just having a nightmare...We didn't have money to spend on a video monitor, but I'm happy that we got this one as a present (and it's affordable).
