Am I the only person who's OB won't even try listening for a heartbeat until 12 weeks?

Mine tried (and succeeded) at 11w3d, but only because my appointment was moved up due to the holidays. He said it's rare to hear it before 12 weeks, which is why they wait til the 12-week appointment to try.

My first OB appt was at 11w2d so she tried, but didnt have any luck. Granted, she said I had a tilted uterus (after doing my pap) and said it makes it even harder to hear a HB with doppler....so she gave up after probably a minute of searching. But, then she went and grabbed the u/s machine and there was the baby with the heart beating away!
