i'd say GO FOR IT! we did, and i have to say, it is the best $100 i've ever spent. i love being able to hear the heart beat whenever i want. it's amazing how much at ease it has made me. my worrying has gone down drastically.
just wanted to share
How far along were you when you could hear the hb on it?
i received it in the mail when i was 10w5d, and i heard it that night! it really helped that i remembered the approximate vicinity on my abdomen that my OB had found the heartbeat...i can see how if you didn't know where to "look," it could take you a long time to find it.
When did you get yours and what brand??? I was thinking about buying one for 2nd tri but I'm afraid I'm going to want to try too early, haha. What's the earliest you heard the hb??
I bought the Hi Bebe doppler on eBay. It cost $99. I think you can also get it on Amazon for $105ish.
I heard the HB the day I got the doppler in the mail--at 10w5d.
I bought a new sonolife off ebay for $69. I rented a doppler with my last pregnancy and should have purchased one because I ended up spending $150 on a rental.
Just an FYI- Because the effects of radio frequency on a fetus is unknown my doctor suggested I only use it once a week and to try to limit that time to 5 min.
