Is edamame safe to eat during pregnancy?

I'm 26 weeks and can't seem to find an answer anywhere.  Does anyone know if edamame is safe to eat at 26 weeks?  It's in a Healthy Choice meal I bought and I haven't heard if it's safe or not.

Thanks!

  • I would assume that it is...why wouldn't it be?  I'm curious!

  • I've heard some people say you shouldn't have it???

  • I think the ONLY thing this could be related to the presence of a compound in soy that supposedly mimics estrogen. There are some wacky claims out there that eating lots of soy causes homosexuality in babies. You're going to have to eat a lot of soy for the estrogenic properties to come into play. A few edamame in your frozen dinner aren't going to do anything, and chances are you already eat a lot of things with soy because it is in so many things. I don't hear anyone saying you can't have soy sauce while you're pregnant.
