BM Storage - is this normal?

So, I only get an ounce or so each pumping session so it takes a while to get enough to put in a storage bag.  So, I keep a bottle in the fridge and add the new milk to it as I pump.

Is it normal for the milk to separate a bit in the fridge?  Also, I find that the milk kind of coats the inside of the bottle - it almost looks like a thin layer of egg white and when I shake it up it mixes back in.  Is all of this okay?

    Mine does the same thing. i think it's the fat that seperates. Seems ok

    yea its the fat separating from the milk. totally normal, but you should swirl it back in and not shake./

    this! shaking is not good for the milk

    ohh and the separation is normal

    its like whole milk, all the cream goes to the top

    All totally normal.  Breastmilk isn't homogenized, so it separates.

    As for the swirl don't shake, I've heard that's a myth.  I'm sure shaking does destroy a few more nutrients than shaking, but I don't think it's a big enough deal to worry about.  I shake the heck out of bottles to get them mixed up properly.
