Ok so I know I'm not supposed to have caffiene. I have switched to caffiene free diet coke but now someone told me I can't have any diet soda? Is this right??? I don't think I can give up my diet coke!
My doctors are fine with it in moderation. They recommend diet drinks to their gestational diabetes patients and think that the risk of aspertame is lower than the risk of gaining too much weight from empty calories.

This. My doc is generally a "moderation" doc though.
I guess I'll try my best to wean down to 1 a day. Seriously, before becoming prego I drank 6 a day. Only got my BFP 2 days ago but I've cut down to 2 a day (with caffeine) and 2 without caffeine.
Don't judge me! This is hard! I love my diet soda!
I agree, everything in moderation. I'm careful with aspertaime in general but coffee is my weakness. I'm at two small cups a day. It's a very hard habit to break- don't be surprised if you start getting some headaches! Maybe substituting with some carbonated water would help trick your brain

I just don't think it is worth it. I have been drinking regular Canada Dry gingerale when nauseous and I normally drink water most of the time. Better for the babe!
Re: Diet Soda?
I would not drink it. Milk and Water for me.

What does the PKU link have to do with drinking it during pregnancy? If one has PKU they should never drink it, pregnant or not.
My thoughts exactly.
Glad I wasn't the only one thinking this!
