Growth spurt or 4 month wakeful? HELP.

Oh dear lord, help.

Landon has been up every 2-2.5 hours for the last two nights. Since he's slept for 9-10 hours since he was 4-5 weeks almost consistently, this is ridiculous. He like WAKES up too, it's not I'm sleepy crying and want my binkie, he's in there talking to himself and making happy noises. When I go in, he eats like a fiend and then goes back to sleep.

I tried feeding him every two hours yesterday, hoping he would get all nice and satisfied before bed. nope. Same program.

Growth spurt, right? Nothing I can do, right?

  • It sounds like a growth spurt.  The duo woke up a lot during that time, but they were never hungry.  They'd refuse whatever I tried to feed them at night.  I say as long as he sounds happy just let him be.  Don't go in there unless he sounds like he's getting upset.  I know with Riley if I go in there when she's just up and talking, she wakes up even more and wants cuddle time and gets PISSED if I try and get her to go back to sleep.  If I just let her do her thing she's usually back asleep fairly quickly.

But if it is a growth spurt, shouldn't I feed him? I guess if he really is hungry and I don't respond to his happy talk, he'll let me know.

  • OH yeah, he'll let you know if he's hungry.  He won't voluntarily starve himself and fall back asleep.  LOL  He may just be eating as a comfort thing to fall back asleep right now, because you're offering it as an option.  Not that it's a bad thing, but it may set up a habit that's hard to break later on.
  • 2 weeks ago Sydney would wake up once a night.  Sometime between 2 and 4am.   This only lasted a week for her - and only once did I need to feed her.  Rest of the time I just rocked her back to sleep.

Hopefully there isn't more of that to come.
