Trying to Get Pregnant

When did you see an RE?

Hi ladies, hope you had an awesome Thanksgiving.  I just got back from Kauai where I was blessed with AF and a new cycle!

I just met with my ob a few weeks ago for my final surgical follow up and was told that she wants me to meet back with her in March to discuss our "next course of action."  By then I will have passed the 1 year mark of ttc. I'm just wondering if most people wait that long before seeing an RE.

My ob's main reason for waiting until March--she wants me to use the CBEFM that I have (but never used) for 6 months first.  Not sure why since I know when I O and I've always had good timing.  My first month of using the CBEFM confirmed that.

DH has his SA scheduled for later this month and I have a CD21 progesterone test scheduled.  I'm just wondering if there are any other options besides waiting much longer.  Although I know it may be premature, I'm starting to think we need to move on since our timing has been good and I have definitely been O'ing.  What do you ladies think--too early to see an RE for someone with no known fertility or health issues (aside from those cured surgically this year)?

Re: When did you see an RE?

  • Oh, and to clarify--we started the ttc process in early 2009 (temping on my own), but didn't start charting on FF until April.

  • You already have an IF diagnosis, there is no reason to wait at all.  GL!

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • It sounds like you can wait until March to see an RE. However, in the meantime, you can always get an SA for your DH, just to rule out any problems there since you know you are O'ing.

  • Yeah, we have an SA scheduled for later this month.

Sorry, I'm ignorant, but what's my IF diagnosis?  I was under the impression that any issues I had were cured by my surgery.

  • We waited a little over a year before we saw a RE. I don't hink that giving it six months since you started trying will be a bad thing but that is a personal decision & I know waiting is hard. I wouldn't make a decision though till after you get the results from your DH's SA though since that could show something. GL

After 4 years, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs our surprise miracle is here!

  • Endometriosis is never really cured.  It can grow back, same with fibroids and polyps. While I waited until close to the 1 year mark before I was diagnosed, my RE moved me straight to medicated cycles after my Lap.  Now, I'm not saying you need to see an RE now, but if you want to I don't see a reason to wait.

  • Thanks ladies.  It's actually been almost a year since we started trying, not 6 months.  She just wants me to give it 6 months with the fertility monitor, which I'm not 100% on board with to be honest.  I don't think the fertility monitor is helping much.

I think you are right about going to meet with an RE because of the endo.  She said she found "old endo" in there and that she didn't see reason for concern, but I'm still annoyed by the whole process.  I know it's a tough process and I need to be patient, but my patience is wearing thin!
