I just called to schedule my 1st doc appt but they said they don't see people until 10 weeks so it's not til January 13th. I'm a little sad cuz I feel like that's a long time, especially if something is wrong. Did anyone else wait this long?
Nope I called and my doctor had me come in the next day and I am seeing him again on Wed for my first U/S. However, I have seen some others on here that had to wait as long as your doctor is saying but it seems like most see the doctor at 8 weeks.
I got in right away, but they didn't do anything to confirm the pregnancy. It was just a history and that's it. 2nd appointment was a physical exam and pap, 3rd appointment the doc felt my tummy. Even though I had my first appointment early, I didn't have any confirmation until 12 weeks when I had my first u/s. It's pretty standard for doctors not to see you until 8 or 10 weeks.
I have heard that they wait that long as well. I actually called and they want me to come in for a "Confirmation" appointment today. I am sortof annoyed b/c it seems like it will be another reason to charge me when all that will occur is another pg test! I wanted to just schedule the 8-10 week appt. but I suppose I'll do this as well.
yeah I'm kind of frustrated cuz we wanted to tell people at xmas but I don't want to tell and then find out something is wrong. Luckily I just talked to my friend and she said you can go to the womens clinic here and they will give you free ultrasounds until you are 14 weeks so I think i'll do that in a couple weeks.
They didn't even mention anything about my H1N1, I had to bring that up, so I'm going in on Wed for that. Then my January with the nurse for bloodwork and who knows what else, 2 weeks later with my midwife (I'm switching from my ob that I used last time)
Re: 1st appt
Yep, it's common. Unless you have a history of m/c, infertility or other health issues, most places will not schedule you until you are 8-10 weeks.
Hang in there!
