Car seat in 2 door car?

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere but I am nervous about getting a carseat in and out. Does anyone have any advice?

    I had the Graco Snugride in my 2 door Sunbird (very small).  I had no problems getting it in and out using the base.  It's safest in the middle, but I had it on the passenger's side since there was no middle seat belt.  I bought a 4 door before moving to the convertible.  I'd imagine it'd be a pain to have to climb in the back seat to put the baby in.

    DH has a 2 door VW GTI, and we have a Graco snugride.  its a tight fit, but it fits in behind the passenger seat and in the tiny little center seat.  it took quite a bit of his muscle-ing to get it level in the center seat, but it does fit.
