How many times a day do you do kick counts and do you get a lot of movement at other times? I feel movement, it varies from day to day based on my activities, etc. Just wondering what everybody else is getting.
None - my doc said she thinks that they just make people nervous and asks that I just keep mental track of whether his movements seem "normal" for him. He tends to be very active after meals and basically all night
I am a runner, knitter, scientist, DE-IVF veteran, and stage III colon cancer survivor.
Silas is kind of a lazy guy. If I am active at all for the most part I won't feel him. If I don't feel him when I lay down I drink some juice and wait he normally always moves.
I dont do kick counts...and my doctor hasnt even mentioned them. I think it just makes people nervous. My little guy is crazy active for a while and then sleeps for a while...so....sometimes I dont feel movements for a few hours at all.
Doc told me he does not recommend kick counts b/c "every baby is different".
Our little guy used to be really active, but he's mellowed out in the last week or so. L&D nurse from Friday night says he's probably running out of room to move around like he used to. As long as I feel 10 movements in 4hrs, I've been told not to worry.
dr. just wants to make sure there is movement. my child has a definate schedule already-i try to keep track as with my first her movement schedule/awake times really seemed to correspond with her more active times once she was born. so currently from 6-8pm this baby is a mover and groover. but like 10am-noon not so much. same with for a couple hour time slot right before supper-usually pretty calm.
I do kick counts to get a baseline on what a regular pattern is, that way I have something to compare to.
I lay down mid morning and evening check the time and count 10 movements once I count ten I re-check the time and write how long it took to get to 10. It usually takes 7-12 minutes on average. I also have a doppler and listen once a day, the HR is usually in the 140's.
I do feel movement throughout the day, the baby moves the most from 8-10pm and 4-6am.

I don't do them either unless I realize that I have not felt movement in a little while. He pretty much moves all the time - so I never worry.
