Need real fast Xmas card mailing help

Real quick- if I mail a 5x7 photo card from Shutterfly in a regular 5x7 envelope, will it cost me extra or be the same price as any other size photo card.  I can only afford the bare minimum here and do not want to get caught spending 60+ cents on postage because it weighs more than the max of 1 oz..  Help!

It's okay if you think this is stupid...I'm just really, really that cheap:-)

I'll share my Christmas pic when I am finished with this mailing project!

  • I'm not sure, but think it will cost extra postage.  You might check the US Postal website to see if they have sizes and base postage charges.

  • OK, dont quote me on this....but I got 5x7 photo cards last year and I am pretty sure it just cost me the normal postage. I would remember if it cost me more.
  • Nope, no extra postage. We just mailed out our announcements and a 5x7 falls under regular postage (as long as it doesn't have any extra weight).

  • Aren't normal greeting cards at least 5x7?  I think postal costs are by weight, not size (unless one edge is larger than 12 inches or something like that).

  • No extra charge for weight on 5x7.   Make sure that they are 5x7 though, the 5x5 square cards are extra because of the odd shape.

  • Thanks guys!  I ended up doing the 4x8's because that is what the pampers points were good for (had the pampers point code before I realized that shutterfly had buy 75 get 25 free and you can't combine codes).  Oh well!  I ordered 50 cards and got 25 free to make me feel better.
