Trying to Get Pregnant

Would you ask to get your progesterone checked?

Backstory:
I'm still new at charting and my last cycle I had a 13 day LP. But I have a continuous problem with spotting randomly during my cycle (though this past cycle I didn't have this problem, it comes and goes away for months or occurs for a few months). I've had this problem off and on since 2006. With my first GYN practice, I was told I had a "bloody cervix" and it was nothing. Then I got PG when we TTC and things were okay (though I spotted all through my pregnancy).

I've had tests done, blood work (don't know if progesterone was checked), two internal U/S, cervix biopsy at my new GYN  and she can't figure out why I spot randomly (though it is typically related to intercourse). I also have a lot of clots during my period (I read somewhere that can also be a sign of low progesterone).
The last time we had sex was early Saturday morning and I did an internal check earlier today and I had some blood (not heavy, but definitely there).
I did a search about "spotting during luteal phase" and read somewhere about low progesterone...thus my question.

So am I worrying for nothing or would you get it checked if you were me? I posted this response below in my post about low progesterone, but I want to get your opinions if you would push to get your progesterone tested if you were me.

Thanks and I'm sorry this was so long.

Re: Would you ask to get your progesterone checked?

  • Hey there :)  Personally I wouldn't worry until the standard year of TTC (or six months if you're 35 or older) has passed.  There are lots of things that can cause spotting, and some of them your gyn might not find anyway.  Good luck :)

  • I would imagine it has already been checked.  FWIW, my past two cycles have been super bad clot-wise and my progesterone was good.

    TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
    Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

My last blood work was useless and I think all the on-duty gyn did was a CBC (I know she wanted to check my white blood cell count because of a whole other issue due to no flow even though I was on my period-long story).  I think perhaps I'll at least call tomorrow and see if they have checked it at all. Thanks for your response.
