My mom and I are taking the LO across the country to visit family in a few days and I am nervous about traveling. Any advise from those of you that have traveled with your babies? TIA
I remember flying with DS#1 at about the same age...are you nursing? If so, plan to nurse on take off and landing. If you are not nursing, have a bottle handy during the same time.
Also, bring car seat/stroller to gate. If there are empty seats on the plane, the airline has to give you an empty seat for the carseat...but insist on it. Ask first (without LO visible) if the flight is full. If it is by chance not full, say you have an infant and would like an empty seat for LO's car seat. If you insist, they will oblige. Also, you can check carseat/stroller at gate.
Also, ask pedi if you can give tylenol prior to flying and how much. I think it helps to keep baby sleepy during flight.

Our family is growing by two feet and we couldn't be happier!
Have a copy of the birth certificate or the shot record.
If you are breastfeeding, feed LO on the ascent and the descent to help their ears. Otherwise try and give them a pacifier or a bottle... the sucking helps.
Don't be afraid to ask for help... people are really nice (surprisingly)
Make sure to bring LOTS of diapers for the cross country trip.
Try to change LO right before you get on, hopefully to limit the number of times you have to do a change in the teeny bathroom.
If there are available seats, try and bring your carseat on board. It will be nice to be able to put the baby somewhere other than your lap.
I found traveling with DD to be really easy. The white noise just put her to sleep. And I was worried about the pressure hurting her ears, so I had a paci at the ready so she would suck, but she didn't want it and never cried. The only hard part was getting all our crap through security!

Relax... it will all be great!
