When I was my friends coach, I brought NCIS on dvd. She thanked me after the fact. (It's her and I's favorite show)
Little Man (4 years old---holy cow) He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
I brought some but never watched them. We kept the tv on for background noise in L&D for the first several hours, but even that got annoying when things really got moving and I was in too much pain to open my eyes. Then after the babes were born they roomed in so we were way too busy to watch movies. We just turned on the tv every now and then if we got bored.
Don't bring anything you have to think about, or maybe that you have not seen before. I think favorite comedies would be a good idea. (And Juno and Knocked Up!)
I didn't bring movies, but I did watch tv. Comedies would be good. Something where you don't have to watch the whole movie since the nurses kept coming in and distracting me. I guess you could pause it, but that'd be a pita.
Re: did anyone take movies with them to the hospital?
