Dentist?

At his 18 month check up, G's pedi recommended taking him to a pediatric dentist by the time he's two for his first visit. It kinda surprised me....and then I forgot about it for a few weeks :)  But, I'm wondering, have you taken your LO to a dentist?  If so, ROC girls - do you recommend someone?

Thanks!

Re: Dentist?

  • My cousin's son turns 2 in December and she mentioned at thanksgiving that his first dentist appt is next month, so the timing sounds about right.

As far as recs, the only one I have experience with is at the 2669 chili ave office.  I grew up going there on the pediatric side with Dr Lowell.  But he has retired and is now replaced by Dr Shea.  My husband and I go to Dr Lubes on the adult side.  I have experience with the office, but not with Dr Shea.  But most likely we will take DD to her eventually since it is all the same office, just different sides.

  • My dentist said starting around age 2, our pedi said as soon as they have teeth. DS will just be going onto my dental insurance in January, so I have his first appt at the end of that month since he has all of his teeth already (he'll be 20 months).
  • Sorry, I have no recommendation for Roc.

I asked at the one year appointment and our Ped said that a pediatric dentist may say to visit as early as with the first few teeth but that a first visit around 2 years of age was appropriate.  One of DH's clients is a pediatric dentist- he did tell us to get in to see him now but I've been avoiding it (she still only has 2 teeth right now).

  • I have bad teeth...not because I don't take care of them or anything, I just do. So I plan on taking LOs to the dentist as much as possible....probably starting at about 18 mo or so.
