leg cramps

suck! I thought I had avoided them but I've had them the past few nights and wake up screaming so loud DH jumps out of bed thinking I'm in labor lol. But I did teach him how to help me with them at least. I think I will be eating more bananas even though I hate them.

  • I can't drink gatorade bc of all the salt but that has a lot of postassium too.  Don't forget about OJ and dark green veggies.

    I've been getting leg cramps more and more and Imagine it will continue to get worse... I just came back from the food store with a bunch of bananas and OJ...

  • Thankfully I haven't gotten them in the middle of the night yet, but I get them almost every morning when I stretch before I get out of bed. If I can feel them coming I can flex my feet and that helps, but man if I don't feel them it hurts so bad! I try to get DH to give me a leg massage before bed and it seems to help a little bit.

  • I got this advice on these boards when I was pg the first time, and it has been a lifesaver:

    When you feel a leg cramp coming on, immediately get out of bed and stand up, getting both feet flat on the floor.  The stretch, combined with getting your weight on your foot, immediately stops the cramp.  At least it has always worked for me.  Saves me both the excruciating pain of the cramp as well as the soreness that follows for 2-3 days.  HTH!

  • thanks ladies! I will try all of the above. Someone also told me 2-3 kiwis a day helps, not sure if that's an OWT or not.
  • Bar of soap under your fitted sheet!  Don't know how it works but it does.
