Ok, H really wants a wii. I kind of want a wii too. Our standard rule of thumb in our house is anytime H wants something new (video game wise) he has to trade in at least half the value of the new item. (He is a HUGE gamer and as a rule of thumb---I'm not).
Right now, he thinks the only way he's going to get a wii is if he trades in his ps2. (He has a psp, a ps2 and we have the original nintendo). We've been using gift cards/bf deals/etc to get the pieces of the wii (such as extra nunchucks, etc) when they are really good deals.
I can tell he really is bummed about trading in his ps2.
On one hand, I could just give him the green light to buy the wii outright (I mean, it's only $200) and he could keep his ps2. Heck, Christmas is coming up, it could be his present--early.
On the other hand...he rarely plays his ps2, it's more of a sentimental attachment. We never really buy each other presents (never have) because we both kind of agree that we'd rather have that $$ to do special stuff year round (vs dropping a couple hundred at one time).
wwbotbd?
ETA: We have a bonus check from his work that's technically "found" money. $60 that we didn't have before. The grown-up thing would be to put that in savings or in the iui fund, but still... lol
Re: WWBOTBD?
I would say get rid of the PS2. If it isn't really used, there isn't a great benefit in keeping it.
agreed.
I say keep the PS2, they don't really resell for much. DH sold his and he's always regretted it.
Can you get a used one? I think it's worth it to buy it and not trade in the system, because you know I new game will come out he might regret trading in the system.
TRUST ME.
DH traded in his Xbox360 and had to buy one again, and his PS3 burnt out from so much use we had to get another one of those and those are freakin' expensive.
I think we have just about every freakin' system and the Wii is the only one I've used on my own, it was only a handful of times but it can be fun.
This. I've thought about him regretting it, but :shrugs: As far as getting a new one vs used one, at the risk of having a crappy system, H would rather have a new one for $50 more
He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
"It's a child, not a cheeto" Thanks mmariluh!
"Ew. I've read all of two posts from you, and you stink like rotting garbage."
lol. One of Matt's selling points was "and you can play mario kart with all of your nestie friends!"

Or more appropriately- I could school you in Mario Kart.
