Went off BC & my face is a mess :(

I am starting to freak out over my oily face!!! I went off BC Nov.3 and ever since then my face has been getting more and more oily each day! I used to problems with acne as a teen but never has my face ever been this greasy! I know it is the hormone change but MAN I'M A MESS! I hope this doesn't last too much longer. Has anyone else had this experience? HELP Sad

    Yep, same thing happened to me - I'm no help, I've been off for 2 1/2 years and nothing works entirely - occasionally it'll get better but not often.

    I'm debating going to see a derm. but I don't want to be on any meds if we are ttc! This sucks!

    Yeah, mine said there is pretty much nothing you can take orally.  There is a topical prescription available though.  I tried it once and it worked moderately but still didn't clear it up entirely.

    Thanks!! I went to Target tonight and bought 3 different face washes..hopefully something works! If not my next step is Proactive..never used that before either!

    Unfortunately I'm in the exact same boat as you are. I went off BC in early  October and my face has been an oil slick ever since!  I have never had acne or oily skin, even as a teenager.  Well I'm making up for that now, my face is a nightmare.  I was told by my doctor not to use the usual stuff for acne while PG or TTC, so I'm just trying to figure out what natural products might help.  I have heard good things about tea tree oil, and I have been looking for products that contain it.  If you find anything that works for you, please post and let us know.

    I had acne all throughout my teen years... but when I went on birth control it went away.  A few months before I got married, (over 2 years ago) I got off of them... and my face broke out! I tried ProActive and it worked like a charm!  My skin was perfect for my wedding day. I would definitely say to try it out because it'll work wonders for some people... and then not at all for others.  And definitely keep up with it... if you wash day and night for about 2 weeks you should see a big difference. =)

    Ooooh now I am tempted to try Proactiv! Right now I'm not really dealing with acne just an extremelly (sp? I am the worst speller sorry) OILY face, neck,chest...do you think Proactiv will work for that? Is it spendy$$?

    ProActive used to run about $40 for a 2 month supply... but I'm pretty sure that you can get it for $20 now.  It's definitely worth it.  They have a few different steps to do each time you wash your face.  Not only can you feel it work... but it also feels great! - Really refreshing!   And yes, it definitely works for places off of your face too.  One of my best friends used it on her back and it cleared everything up!  You can use the same facial wash... but I'm sure they have a specific one for that too.

     

    Most malls have a stand set up in the middle of the aisle for ProActive.  I see them everywhere.  That might be your best bet if you just wanna try it out.  It's definitely worth ordering at least the first set!!

    I am on my way to the mall to buy Proactiv tomorrow and tea tree oil...I am desperate!! I will let you all know how it goes!

     

    The Juno quote is my fav...such a cute movie! I just took it off my siggy for a little bit because of a story that I read about a girl from MN

    I have been having the same problem since getting off BCP. I recently bought Juice Beauty skin care line from Sephora and it seems to be working. I bought the kit for oily skin for $40. It comes with a face wash, blemish clearing serum, face lotion, and a great mask. It helps to get rid of the oily grossness/zits, as well as lightens scarring... pretty cool.

    Yes!  I went off BCP and got backnee (back acne).  So gross!  It has been 8 months and is slowing starting to clear up.  I feel for ya.

    I have also become much more oily since going off bcp (five months ago). I have "always" been very dry... well for as long as I can remember - so I guess it has always been from bcp.

    I have literally never broken out (save for a few spots in high school) and I was never able to wash my face because I would be so dry... now I am washing my face every day and breaking out all the time!

    I'm another Proactiv fan.  Another thing that works amazingly well are those little oil-absorbent sheets (there's a Clean & Clear one, but drug stores usually have a generic as well).

       Hope the Proactive works for you. I had the same problem after getting off BCP. I ordered Proactive, but I haven't seen any results really. I never really had any problems with my skin when I was younger, but now it's gross. And it's on my chest even! I don't use it twice a day like they say you need to, so  guess it's my own fault! Just don't have the time. GL!!

    I had the same problem. I've been off BC for a year now, and the first five months, my face was TERRIBLE. It will even out though! Give it some time!
