i was jsut wondering...if i have hazel eyes, and baby daddy has hazel eyes, then will baby have hazel too? ive heard a few different things and was wondering what some of you think/know from expierience. tia!
It's a possibility, but that's what happens with any recessive gene. My SS has the bluest eyes and DH and his mom have the darkest brown eyes I've ever seen. You'll just have to wait and see! (And let's face it, you'll have to wait until about 9 months or so until the eyes stay their permanent color).
My mom was the only person in her family with Blue eyes, and my whole family except one of my brothers has blue eyes....so out of 5 kids one had brown...both parents have blue eyes.
It depends. Your baby got 23 chromosomes from you and 23 from their dad. You won't know which ones until they're born though because you can only really guess probabilities. Time to bust out the punnett suares!
I have green eyes and my sister has blue eyes. Parents have hazel and brown eyes. Eye color can be recessive - one grandmother had green eyes and one had blue which is where we probably got our eye color from, but you never know. The only combination that isn't possible is if both parents have light eyes then the child cannot have dark eyes (then you know there was a mailman involved :-).

That's very cool that your parents had a brown eyed child...that's very very uncommon, though not impossible as previously thought I wonder if your brother had anyone try to convince him he was adopted since up until about 10 years ago just about all kids learned in biology that two blue eyed parents can't have a brown eyed child.
My DH and I both have hazel eyes, his are more of a green with brown flecks and mine are more 'yellow' with green and brown flecks. Our first son was born with blue eyes that are now grey/green. Depending on what he's wearing his eyes can appear more green or grey.
Genetic back story, my mother has brown-father green, his mom has brown-father blue.
We're assuming our next son (c/s 12/16) will have hazel or some other mixed eye colour.
I am a scientist and took tons of human genetic courses and there really isnt a good way to predict eye color, as it isnt a simple dominant/recessive relationship (like Mendel's pea plants we all learned about in high school and college). There are multiple genes that affect eye color. I do know that even though you both have hazel eyes, if either you or your DH has siblings with blue eyes your chance of having a child with blue eyes will increase.
It's possible, but not necessarily true. DH and I both have green eyes and DD has blue eyes (from both of our moms) and DS has brownish green eyes. I'm still trying to figure out where the brown comes from.

Both my DS and DD have bright blue eyes.
