Boston Babies

What are you doing with your old clothes/baby gear?

I have twin girls who just turned one years old. so I have tons of clothes and  some baby gear that I dont need anymore. I dont plan on having any more kids (which is definate since I am over 40!!)

I dont know what I should do with it all.  I am thinking of donating it but not sure where. any suggestions

  • There's always Salvation Army or Vincent St. Paul's. You could also post on Craigslist that you want to give the gear/clothes away.

  • HI, my DD is 3 and i've kept every single article of clothing of hers! Partially b/c we knew we'd be prego again (just found out yesterday!!) and the other is because i plan on making a quilt for each of my kids from their old clothes. At some point i'll go through them and the ones that i don't use i'll donate. I personally don't like the salvation army..b/c they just turn around and sell them in their stores, but i donate to Good Will, There is usually a bin in most Lowe's parking lots. Also the boys and girls clubs has a website and you can schedule a pick up.
  • I just took clothes to RI Right to Life in Providence (I'm originally from RI). They help many women who have decided to keep their babies as opposed to having an abortion. There are many social service agencies such as these that are always in need of baby items. I hope your babies clothes end up in good hands.

For stuff that you paid a lot of money for and that is still in great shape (think $50 Stride Rite Shoes) I post them on e-bay...start bidding low and keep shipping rates reasonable.

Anything that falls in the category of daily use item I have been posting on freecycle.org- join a group in your neighborhood, sign up and watch how fast your home can become clutter free! People will take the stuff of your hands and actually get use out of it!

  • I recommend freecycle as well. It is really a great concept!
  • Cradles to Crayons is a great organization that takes gently used clothes and toys and gives them to local children in need.
