hate mine with a passion and a half. the shutter time takes FOREVER, so i'm constantly missing shots. then when i upload the pics onto my computer, some come out split in half, disjointed and discolored. it's also happened with MIL's and GMIL's coolpix(es?) and we all have different models. i have the L18, and i know GMIL and MIL have the higher models...
I returned my S230 after a month. The pictures were always blurry, it didn't matter what setting I used. I love my Nikon D40, but I would not recommend a point and shoot.

Ditto a million times. HATE IT. I would be happy if I could convince every person that I know not to buy this camera, it's awful. I had a Canon Powershot before (comparable in price) and it was wonderful. Mine is the 10 megapixel. Get the Canon instead. I promise it's so much better.

So is it mainly the shutter time thing that's a problem? I ask because that's the issue with my current camera and I can't stand it, which is why I want a new one. I was looking into the Coolpix because I've heard the picture quality is amazing, but I hate when I can't get the shot I want because the camera takes too long so that would be a major issue for me.
I just saw this, not sure if you are still checking it, but wanted to respond. It's mostly the shutter speed that sucks. I miss so many pictures because it's so freaking slow. But it's also the software with loading the pictures. Half the time it doesn't even recognize that I have new pictures to upload. I PROMISE the Canon Powershot is so much better. I would have stuck with this, but it was stolen and the sales guy convinced me that the Coolpix was better, so I went with it. I swear I have told DH a dozen times that I wish this one would get stolen so that I could go back to the Canon
Re: Anyone have a Nikon Coolpix?
I'm not sure yet. I'm thinking the 10 mp one that's 149 I think? I was actually looking at it today at Target!
I give mine 4 stars.
