OB, GP or Neither?

Possible TMI alert!  I've got a patch of what I thought was dry skin on my breast.  Not itchy, but a little discolored and sorta raised.  I didn't think much about it until I got a red bump on the areola of the same breast.  It's not really a bump, more a red spot about the size of a pencil eraser.  It doesn't hurt and isn't itchy either, but neither are going away.  So should I go to the doc about this?  If so, should I see my general prac. or my OB?  The only reason I'm even worrying about it is because my aunt (mom's sis) is a breast cancer survior, so I'm always on high alert for changes to my breasts.  TIA!!

Re: OB, GP or Neither?

  • I'd say OB, since they usually do the breast exams and stuff like that.

Good luck, hope it's nothing bad!

  • Ditto joyco. And GL, I hope it turns out to be nothing major.
  • OB. It's probably hormone/baby related, but getting it checked out is a good idea. There is a type of breast cancer that shows itself with a rash on the breast, but it is typically larger than you are describing.
