North Carolina Babies

question for the mommies

I was just doing an inventory of our baby clothes and noticed that we have only 2 newborn sleepers/outfits!   We have quite a few 0-3 month and 3 month items.

Do you think I need to buy some newborn outfits/sleepers or did your LOs wear the 0-3 month or 3 month things right away ok?

Right now (with 8 weeks to go till c-section) our little guy is 3-3.5 lbs...very average in size.  The doctor doesnt think he is going to be a giant guy, but she cant really say more than that.  :)

  • I would probably get at least 2-4 more nb sleepers ... DD wore those for the first 6 weeks, and she was 7lb15oz at birth. Plus, they will have accidents on them and you will want backups. :)

Agreed, AT was the same. We LOVED the sleep sacks. Some do and some dont. They were really easy for night dipare changes etc.

  • Katie was 8.4 but still wore nb for about a month. I'd get more since you won't want to do laundry that often the first few weeks!

  • Both of my girls wore NB size for at least about 6 weeks and they were 7.5 and 8.5 lbs.  I would definitely get a few more newborn things.  But watch out for Gerber stuff b/c it runs super small.

  • I only had 3 or so, and Jocelyn was 8lbs14oz and I needed more. I probably had 6 total plus sleep sacs. I got about 5-6 weeks out of them, she pretty much lived in the same things. Outfits that zip up with feet are the way to go. I didn't put an "outfit" with pants, onesie, etc., on her until almost 4 weeks and I remember it being a hassle w/all the diaper changes!

  • Confused mom-to-be here....can someone explain the difference between a sleeper and a sleep sac? We registered for 2-3 sleep sacs, but what are sleepers? Our new arrival will be here at the end of March so I'm a little concerned about him roasting in his clothes! ;)

    tia!

  • by sleepers I mean a one piece thingy with legs and feet :)  I think they are called sleep and plays.

I have a 5 or 6 sleepsacks...but sounds like I could use a couple sleepers in NB size too.

    Thanks ladies!

I had a March 1 baby and we did the "sleep and plays" which are just footed sleepers that they can spend the whole day in, some zip and some button. We also did a fleece Carters sleepsack and a swaddle blanket, but we found she got too hot with the sleep sack, I did not (still don't) like Carters fleece material for sleepsacks and sleepers. I highly recommend Halo cotton sleepsacks and even their fleece is WAY more breathable than Carters.
