Trying to Get Pregnant

O cramping affecting sex?

I know some here believe in O cramping and some do not, but I am definitely a person who gets cramping almost every month.  My problem is that it truly makes sex on the day of O very painful.  No matter what technique or how "gentle" DH is, it hurts a great deal.  I looked back at my last 7 or 8 charts, and we only had sex on the day of O during 3 or 4 of those months.  It's not so bad leading up to O or after O, but the day of...yowza.

Does anyone else experience this?  I don't even know what it could be a symptom of.  I mentioned it to my OBGYN, and she didn't say much about it but I will definitely mention it again when we go to the RE.

  • Wow - mine are more of a twinge than true pain and don't interfere with my life in any way.  Definitely worth mentioning to the RE.

The only way I could describe it to DH is that it feels like he is stabbing me from the inside in my lower abdomen.  I have noticed that I only have the severe pain on my right side (but cramping on both, depending on the month), so I will definitely mention it to the RE.

  • Last month I had cramps for 2 days and it really felt like AF cramps but constantly for the whole time!

I did have sex with DH and it didn't hurt but it was uncomfortable. I am not sure if it means anything if it hurts but it sure doesn't put me in the mood ;)

When I had my u/s on Monday, everything was perfectly normal.

This is what I was thinking as well.  I was a little surprised the the OBGYN didn't seem more concerned about it.

MissNikki...that is my fear.  I can't forsee ever having sex on the day of O if that pain continues.  If nothing else, it takes DH out of the mood when he knows he's hurting me.

  • Anyone who doesn't believe in O pain is like someone saying they don't believe in positive pregnancy tests...just cause you've never had one, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

My O pain was knee-buckling, but it happened sporadically and usually 3-4 days prior to actual O.  I had all kinds of other endo pains that put a massive damper on the sex.  Lets just say "quickie" took on a whole new meaning.

  • I have been really surprised at how nonchalant docs and u/s techs are about cysts. Unless they are really big, or causing excruciating pain, they don't see it as a big deal. One u/s I had went like this: Tech- "Oh, looks like you still have a cyst." Me- "Um..is it bigger than before?!?" Tech- "Not sure." So weird.

Um, hello...isn't that kind of his/her job?

I'm guessing said docs and u/s techs have never had a cyst.  DH feels so bad when he looks at my face and can tell that he's hurting me.  As you can see by my chart, I was OK leading up to and even the morning after.  I had a +OPK as late as 8:00 Wednesday night and a temp spike Thursday morning.  I was fine Tuesday night, I was OK Thursday morning, but no sex for us on Wednesday. Sad

  • I have experienced the same thing.  I have O cramps every month, some worse than others.  But it does feeling like he stabbing me!  Which I used to think was normal because I thought the uterus was lower during O.  Now that I know it's higher during O, it doesn't really make any sense why it would hurt.

Are you sure it's O cramps and not something else?  I experienced this once during sex and it was constipation (not confirmed by doctor, just what I resolved it to be).  Def mention to your doc, but perhaps take more note of your BM's.  Even if you do go every day, you may still be backed up?  Just a thought.

I don't think so, only because it happens like clockwork almost every single month, and only on the day of O.  It is something to keep in mind though.
