Trying to Get Pregnant

NGPR Poll: What kind of tree?

Also, if you get a real Christmas tree every year, when will you get one? We're thinking of going the weekend of the 12-13. I feel like getting a real tree is such a double edged sword - I've always had real ones, so the memory of the smell is really important to me, but you can't get one until a few weeks before Christmas, and they're such a pain with cats!

Re: NGPR Poll: What kind of tree?

  • I will not abide a fake tree!  Our cats have never bothered it, but since last year we have had a door to our great room and keep it sealed off in there.

  • Growing up we always got a real one, probably around the first weekend in Dec.  But they're so damn messy.  I'm sure we'll go back to real when we have a kid because going to pick a tree is such a good memory.
  • We had real growing up, so did DH.  When I had my first place though, I didn't want to mess with it and I really love my pre-lit tree.  It's SOOO easy.  Maybe when we get a house we will switch to real again.

  • Growing up I always had a real tree.  Since moving to Colorado I always have a fake tree now.  Colorado is just way too dry to try to keep a tree alive.

  • Growing up, we always had a real tree. Never ever did we have a fake one (we even cut our own one year). When I got my own place, it was an upstairs apartment and I lived there for 2 years. I got a fake one to save on the hassle, plus I was by myself so it really didn't matter, as long as I had one. Now that I'm married....

We always get ours the weekend after thanksgiving (REAL) and it stays pretty all through the season...usually until New Years is when we take it down. You just have to keep it watered and if the pets drink the water, keep putting more in!

I have a cat and a dog inside. When I had a fake tree, the cat would climb it and knock it over. I was really worried about the real tree, but appearantly it was too heavy because it never got knocked over (I don't even think she climbed it). We would always pop her behind if we caught her about to climb it. As for the dog, she just drank to water. They also had fun chasing each other around it. LOL.

  • When I was little, we had a real tree every year.  DH and I have always had fake, though.  And this year, we are going SUPER fake.  We are having 2 trees and 1 of them is black (for DH's star wars ornaments).

  • My allergies will not tolerate a real tree, so its a fake one for us. We put a real wreath on our front door, and for a month i can't use the front door without sneezing and being congested by the time I get the door unlocked and am inside.

  • Wow I am surprised to see it 50/50. I really thought fake trees were taking over. I love the smell of real trees, but I like to leave mine up too long, and a fake one makes much less mess!

    My thoughts exactly!!

  • I've always had a fake tree and DH has always had a real one so we decided we would put up the fake tree in years when we go out of state to see my folks and buy a real one the years we stay here in town to my with my IL's.  This is the first real tree year but DH and I both decided since I was unemployed for so long and now just working retail we agreed to skip the real tree but I'm looking forward to someday having a real one.  But today we did go with his parents & sister's family to cut down their trees.
