Do you think it is stingy/tacky to re-wrap items you received as gifts? If you think it depends on the person please explain who it would be inappropriate for.
If it's something impersonal like a box of chocolates or something I "won" in a dirty Santa game and I know I'm not going to use it, I am more than happy to pass it along to someone who will enjoy it more. But I keep thoughtful gifts from family and close friends.
I think if its something you're not going to be using then you should give it to someone who will enjoy it. I always seem to get gifts from a particular co-worker that are something I would never use, so 9 times out of 10 I regift it.
You just have to make sure there is nothing on the packaging that would identify it as previously having been a gift for you. It also shouldn't be something that's particularly "dated." Like, for example, a home accessory featured in the Pottery Barn fall 2007 catalog that the recipient wouldn't be able to find on the PB website if she went to look for it after receiving the gift.

LOL...no. I just pay attention to articles and TV show features on re-gifting and this type of thing is always one of the biggest pieces of advices they have.
I sound like I re-gift all the time. I've only done it once this year.

I voted no, but only if you're not regifting to the person you got it from or someone that was around when you opened it. We're doing a thing at church this year where you have to re-gift. The ladies are having the Christmas party in January so that we won't have to spend money on a gift and we can just re-gift something that we got that we didn't like.

Somebody did this for us as a wedding gift. You could look at the packaging and tell it was straight from the late 80's early 90's. I jived on it so bad, but it turned out to be a pretty useful gift (a sandwich toaster).

I deffinetly agree that its okay to re-gift especially if its something that person will enjoy/get more out of then I will!
I suggested to DH today to re-gift a slow cooker(we got 3 at our wedding!) since we're a little tight on money this holiday season.. and he gave me this look like I was crazy.
