Babies: 0 - 3 Months

how many christmas gifts does your 1st christmas baby have?

I said i was gonna watch what i spent, but damn that black friday...LO has 15 gifts so far, I think 12 of them are ours so far...got a bunch of carter's clothes at 50% off, books, stacking cups, blocks, shape sorter, etc. I think because it's the 1st Christmas it's to be expected..what about everyone else?

  • I'm ordering a FP piano for DS, a sophie the giraffe, and a bunch of dr sues books.

DS has MORE than enough clothes! MIL bought him an exercauser that I am going to set up and have it out christmas morning, he'll almost be 2 months, so I'm thinking he'll be the perfect age for it.

almost 2 months and perfect for an exercauser?! My dd is almost 5m and almost too small for hers. And no she isn't a small baby, 95% actually.

I would be VERY careful about putting a 2m old in an exercauser or jumper!!

  • My MIL has already brought over a bunch of presents. I don't know what we'll end up getting her, because she's going to get SO much stuff from our other family members. My husband bought her 3 little jackets for next winter, but those aren't really presents.

The thing say's great for 3+ months, my DS is already holding his head up. Of course I would watch him in it!

Everyone I've ever seen says 4+ months.  But I agree with Blondie, DD got hardly any use out of hers until she as close to 6 months.  I think that toys for infants always have a range that is too young on them.

I'm not saying he shouldn't have it.  We got hers for her 1st Christmas when she was 4 months.  But don't expect to get much use out of it right away.

  • Forgot to answer the OP's question.  We actually talked to some of my cousins after DD was born about how they avoided going overboard with there kids.  My oldest cousin had the best answer (though it might only be appropriate for Christian families).

Jesus was given 3 gifts by the Wise Men, so we give our children 3 gifts.  But because we only give 3 gifts we make sure they are high quality, memorable and something they will really enjoy.

Last year DD got a doll house (a solid wood, 3 story one), a new bike and a new necklace.

Doing this keeps us from going overboard and fits in with our celebration of the Holidays.

  • I wasn't really going to get her anything because she'll be not even 3 mo. old but with her bday not being until October, I won't have another "reason" to buy her gifts until then.  She has no toys now so I'm getting her stuff that she can start playing with throughout the year.  At least I'll have fun opening her toys on Christmas morning!  lol
  • I will probably just buy things that I need to get anyway.

haha.  His first Christmas present will be a huge box of diapers. Smile
