I pump around the clock (every 3 hours). I'm getting about 2oz or more from each breast. It's definitely enough for her, and I'm freezing some.
My question is...Is there any way I can eliminate one pump at night? I'm about half worthless by 6am. DH is amazing and is helping a ton. I just need to get some quality sleep so I'm not doing something stupid.
TIA
Re: ? for the EPers
Definitely! I've been skipping a session at night for a few weeks now. I generally pump every 4 hours during the day, but skip a session at night. For example, yesterday I pumped at at 1a, 4a, 9a, 2p, 6p, and 9p. DS gets his last bottle around 10 and goes to bed; I went to bed about that same time. He got up at 3:15a for a bottle, so after he had that I just came out to pump. That gives me a nice stretch of sleep. I'll be back up around 6a to feed him and will pump again and start my roughly every 4 hour schedule.
The body is amazing at producing milk during the night; I find that I definitely get the most milk at this 3a session and the one after that.
Oops...I keep forgetting our tickers are gone. She's just 3 weeks. That 9-10oz pump scares me. I'm smaller breasted. I think my boobs could seriously explode if I had that much milk stored up in there.
From what I have read "They" say to do it every 3 hours for the first six weeks or so... however my dr said that if LO is sleeping not to get up unless I was having problems with my milk supply.
I normally get up and do an early morning pump (4-5 am) but then go back to bed. ?

I would only drop one pump at a time and wait several weeks to let your body adjust. At 3 weeks old, it's very important to pump often to keep your supply up.
If you are having trouble meeting LO's needs, you can try Reglan (rx from your doctor) or Domperidone (rx or online at www.inhousepharmacy.com). Domperidone helped me a LOT. I'm down to 6 pumps a day with only one at night - my LO is 9 weeks.
It's also very important to make sure you pump at LEAST 120 minutes per day. If you drop a night pump, make your other pumps longer (20 minutes each would be ideal!)
