infection? help!

I did tear when I had DS, I don't know if that makes a difference at all.

I have a temp of 100.5 right now, and I don't feel sick just achy and cold. one thing I have noticed lately is the pads that I have been using sometime have red blood and other times it looks red/yellowish/brownish (gross but kinda like a wet scab color).

I doubt that this is normal but then again I don't know. could my uterus or stitches be infected?

also today one of my breasts has been painful on the underside, and hard despite pumping. could this possibly be an infection?

obviously I will call the doctor in the morning if this continues but you ladies have been through a lot, I could use your input please.

TIA.

  • Ok, the fact that you have a temp that high is already not good.  I would have your DH be on watch for the night to make sure it doesn't get worse.  I personally would go to the hospital now but I'm paranoid like that.  As for your breasts do you think maybe you didn't pump long enough?  Do you massage your breasts while pumping?  Put a warm cloth over it and try pumping it again.  If it doesn't get better it could be something worse so if you do end up going to the hospital get it checked as well.

  • The color changing of your "bleeding" is normal.  For the past week I've just had a yellowishy discharge, which I read is normal.  As far as the fever, I wouldn't take any chances with that.  I'd go see a doctor ASAP!  I wouldn't want to be around my 3 week old if I was sick.  Her immune system is developed yet.  In fact, I made DH find someone who was willing to give him the H1N1 flu shot b/c of this fear.
  • tylenol is bringing the fever down. I really feel fine, just my normal stuffiness.

I did get the flu shot and the H1N1, so while I can't help being scared still I feel like we are protected.

unfortunately I am the only one who takes care of DS since I'm single. I do have my mother's help but it's not like she can breastfeed my son for me (ugh that's a gross thought), and he's too young for us to give him a bottle.

Thank you for letting me know the color change is normal. I'm keeping my eye on the temp, and I'll see if there's still a problem after sleeping (if he lets me).
