the only way cooper sleeps in his bassinet or crib is on his stomach otherwise he has to sleep on top of me on his stomach and quite frankly my back can't take much more of that... so do i let him sleep on his stomach or do i tough it out and continue to let him sleep on me?

Re: my child is a stomach sleeper WWYD
I don't think I could take the risk personally but it's a decision you'll have to make. He's little so it's not like he'll get into a habit.
I personally wouldn't do it at two weeks. We only really started letting LO do it at 6 weeks, and that was him sleeping on his tummy for naps during the day until I felt comfortable enough after 'watching' him to let him sleep that way at night.
At 2 weeks, LO was still sleeping on my chest, too. It's something they do grow out of, but for now, enjoy your cuddle time.
P.S. - LO didn't like sleeping on his back (even swaddled, though swaddling is great!), so we put him on his side. Try that, perhaps?
We started to let DS sleep on his tummy around 5 weeks, then we discovered he actually sleeps better really tightly swaddled.
(he's 12 weeks now) IMO 2 weeks is too young to put them on their tummies.
Keep on trying to put him down different ways. They are so young and change so quickly you never knows when they are going to change their minds about sleeping a certain way.
I say ditto to those who recommended swaddling the baby tightly. I have found that with DS he just likes to be in a certain position. He can hold this position (legs draw up all the way to his chest) better when there is something under his tummy, either me or his mattress. He has great neck strength. But even at 4 weeks I haven't had him sleep on his tummy. But when I wrap him really tightly in his blankets he can maintain his favorite position.
On the other hand I let DD sleep on her tummy starting at 5 weeks, and she did not have great neck strength at the time. But she had a horrible time sleeping unless she was sleeping on my chest (as your are experiencing). When I spoke with my MW at my follow up about this we discussed tummy sleeping. And I love and trust her so I went with her advice. The first night DD slept through the night and from that night on she slept great.
You need to do what you are most comfortable with. Perhaps look at the motion monitors that they sell?
