Okay WHY the fvck do older people think babies need to get a lung workout by crying? Babies do not need to cry! Just breathe, my baby can breathe JUST FREAKING FINE!
That was the parenting advice from back in the day. If you need to take your baby back, then go ahead and do it. Just say your breasts are leaking and they won't argue with that.
I just hate hearing "oh crying is good for the lungs"
UM NO! and its bad for the soul!
I'm not saying crying is good for the lungs, but have you ever cried sometime for no reason? Or just needed to have a good cry? In my opinion that means that crying can be good for the soul, but that doesn't mean you leave your baby cry......

I am talking about it being bad for the soul when my baby is screaming for his mommy and someone won't give him back to sooth him, because its good for his lungs.
Sometimes I cry, not usually though. I cried while watching UP! but that movie made me incredibly sad. Also when I cry, its just tears. Not full blown screaming, face turning red, throwing head back screaming.

Well that kind of crying is not good for the soul no...... screaming and crying are too different things.... but that's not good for the soul. I just know that I have cried many times for no reason (not so much while prego) and sometimes it's like heaving sobs and afterwards I feel so good. But again, that's as an adult not as a baby....

We also know why *maybe not always* why we are crying. He just knows he needs his mommy and that is all. I refuse to let my baby just scream. I don't care if someone else his holding him and soothing him, if they fail, they fail. And just give me my baby back, I can fix him in a second by offering up a snack or my little guy is a mommy's boy, and just really loves being snuggled up with mommy
That goes right along with my MIL and FIL's favorite saying when DD was little "we don't mind when babies cry." Well, I do, so give her back. Notice how she doesn't cry when I hold her? That means she doesn't want YOU to hold her, get over it.

I would have snatched my baby away and been like, no more holding him for you!
BAH I swear older people just piss me off, the info they recieved is wrong and they just feel the need to share it! GAH

Oh, I did. Anytime DD would cry with someone else, I took her right back. And I said to the ILs many times "I do mind" and would take DD into another room. DD's crying just hits a nerve in me, like pressing a button "must make this better".

I understand, I'm the same way. I don't believe in letting others sooth him unless they HAVE too. so far that has not happened. Why let him cry for 2 minutes when I can fix it in 30 seconds ? KWIM?

I had that experience last night. In my case it wasn't people saying it is good for his lungs, but I think they were trying to be nice and giving me a break. But I know when my son needs me and I had to quickly yank him away so that *I* could calm him. Seriously, pie can wait. My DS is more important.

If you need to take your baby back, then go ahead and do it. Just say your breasts are leaking and they won't argue with that.
LOL I've used this excuse many times. When I was feeling nice, that is. Usually I just say, "time to come back to mommy" and snatch him away. But people don't really mess with me
Re: Crying good for lungs? *vent*
