Trying to Get Pregnant

NE1 with hypothyroid and trouble getting pg

I think part of my reason for it taking so long to get pg with DS was my newly diagnosed hypothyroidism.  We are ttc next month and just found out at my endocrinologist appt this week that my TSH levels are up.  They've been perfectly under control for over a year and now, of course, I am hypo.  I'm mad that this may ruin our first cycle to ttc.

Re: NE1 with hypothyroid and trouble getting pg

  • I have hypothyroidism and my understanding is as long as your TSH level is under control it does not effect ttc.  When you are pregnant they will test your level more frequently because often times you need to increase your medication.  However my TSH stayed level throughout my first pregnancy.

  • I have been diagnosed "hypothyroid" however we're working on getting my levels under control.  My highest TSH though was just over 5 so it was borderline high.  My RE wants to keep my TSH between 0.5 and 2 or something like that.  They had me on Synthroid, but as of my last b/w appt my TSH had dropped to 0.005 so they told me to stop taking the Synthroid immediately.  I go back again in December for more b/w...I have no idea what they'll do if my levels are up again b/c I was on the lowest Synthroid dose they can prescribe.

Good luck to you with TTC!
