  I just use a little spray 'n wash and wash in warm water with Dreft.  I've not had any trouble getting stains out this way.  I would advise against trying to scrub it out, I think that might just be grinding it further in...

  Yes...I noticed that it was getting a bit pilly (is this a word?) too!

  I thought Dreft stain remover worked better then the spray-n-wash I had on hand....not sure about the Shout. It should be o.k. too I would think.

  I tried Shout - didn't work well.  Soaking in Oxi Clean took it right out.

  Hang it out to dry outside in the sun to get out any stains the wash doesn't get out.
