DD loves the shower!! yay! Finally a method of getting a clean, pretty-smelling baby without all the screaming and fuss of a bath!! (and mommy gets clean, too... bonus!)
I am curious too - how do you ensure she doesn't slip out of your hands? She doesnt mind the water in her face?
I took a bath with LO this past week and he liked it - I kept him wrapped in a very thin baby towel which made it easier to grip him and keep him from slipping.
We have the Euro Bath and it's way to big and cumbersome for a newborn, so definitely curiuos of other ways to bathe him...
Well, since DH and I usually shower together, it was easier than just me and her... but basically, I held her up either against my shoulder, or in one arm, and used the free hand to soap her up. DH helped pass me the soap and shampoo, and held her so I could get myself clean. If you're going to shower your LO, just make sure you're comfortable with holding your LO... maybe bring a sling in to be safe, if you feel it's going to get too slippery, but make sure it's one you don't care about destroying (maybe make one out of terry cloth... then it won't matter if it gets wet )
**Edit: I don't let the water go straight into her face. I let the water drip down my body, or against her back. She doesn't mind the water running off me getting on her face, but I wouldn't let the spray go directly on her face... the pressure would be too high for her.
I shower with DS all the time. I have never really worried about him slipping - I just keep him cradled in one arm or up against my chest while I use the other hand to wash him. The way I do it is to put him in his bouncy chair in just a diaper while I shower. Then when I am done washing, I kneel down in the shower and slip his diaper off and pick him up. I keep the water warm enough that I'm not shivering, but slightly cooler than I usually prefer.
His favorite way is if I hold him against my chest and let the water run over his back. He has developed a habit of sucking the water off my collarbone, too. I wash his face and hair and back, then roll him over into my left arm and wash the rest of him with him facing up. When he's all clean, I wrap him in his towel, set him in the bouncer for just long enough to wrap my bathrobe around me and get a towel around my hair, and then take him and get him dressed.
It's much more workable than using his tub right now. We have the tummy tub, and while I love it, we both get soaked and he can't hold his head up well enough yet so I have to hold his head with one hand and wash him with the other.
