How & why can 1 little trigger shot cause so much anxiety...grrrr

Pretty much since I got the call this afternoon, I don't think I've done much other than sit here at the computer, sorta watching a movie, but mainly I seem to have just been watching and staring at the clock, tick tock, tick tock, it's getting closer to trigger time..  I so don't want to do it but it's also exciting as I am one step closer,   (again for those that don't know, I am doing a natural cycle and have terrible anxiety and fears of meds, not really shots nor pills but meds).  But my DH is not so scared and he sure does seem to be a little too excited at giving me a shot!  But is confidence does help... a little :)

I see that there are several of us triggering tonight and retrieving on Sunday. Good luck to us all!!!

  • Are you triggering with Ovidrel?  If so, you won't even feel the needle!  I was afraid of it last month as well, but it was really nothing at all.  Good luck!!!

  • Thanks!

I thought it was going to be Ovidrel but I saw a post one day where someone was talking about how Ovidrel had to be refrigerated and I freaked because mine wasn't but they didn't ship it to me on ice either. So I looked when I got home and it says to store it at up to 77 degrees. I guess it's a generic (cheaper since all my costs are OOP), it just says HCG (Chorionic Gonadotropin).  It is subQ though and not intramuscular, thank god!  I guess this RE office has gone 100% subQ with everything.

I am about to find out in Tminus 2 hours 52 minutes!

  • Sub-Q is a piece of cake :) I promise!

Surprise! Baby #4 is due in March!
  • Yeah, Ovidrel is sub-q, and it was really easy!  It might even be easier to do it yourself than to have someone else do it... it was for me.  :)

  • DH did all of my IM shots, but I did all of my sub-q shots myself. I found lounging on the couch was easiest to do it because I could see my tummy, and didn't have to worry about falling on my butt while trying to stick myself. Honestly, they aren't a big deal at all, I just found doing them while standing required more balance and coordination, which I seriously lack on the best of days.

TTC#1 since Mar 2008. Serious MFI due to cancer. 3 cancelled IUI's, just about every test in the book. IVF#1 - BFP! Twin girls arrived 2/5/10 at 35w2d. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Don't worry the meds aren't bad either. I get nervous about meds and the ovidrel had no s/e other than my ovaries being crampy, and that is easy to put up with when you think about your eggs getting ready. I hope the generic is the same way! Good Luck!!!
