Re: Car seat = good deal?

  • I don't know anything about the brand, but thought i'd mention that albeebaby is having a sale today too (which is where we got our car seat) in case you were still shopping around.

  • I know some people who have sworn by this brand. I'm not sure if 30 off is A GREAT deal. Its whatever you want to spend on it.

I really really love our The First Years True Fit (also goes to 65 and then converts into a booster). Got it on Amazon for ~175

Clicky for you.  I want to say that goodheartedmommy & Go4 both like this one...and they are both car seat techs.  But I don't know for sure.

HUH?! I'm on Amazon right now looking at the True Fit (which is my runner up)...but don't see any mention of it converting to booster!

  • That's a pretty good deal.  I have the seat and LOVE it.  Seth is tall and medium weight and he's not even close to growing out of the RFing limits.  I got the seat from diapers.com for $189 (the exact same model as the one you linked to).  I know it was on sale for this again recently, but it looks like it's $199 there, too, now.  For $10, it's not worth the wait just in case it goes that cheap again (I've never seen it cheaper), IMO.

I don't know what car you have, but the one con (in my eyes) to this seat is that it takes up a LOT of room when RFing, so if you have a small car, it will absolutely have to be in the middle seat, and there's a small chance it may not fit at all.  FWIW, it fits in my car (which is a Suzuki Aerio SX-- a hatchback car, basically) in the middle and in DH's car (which is a Toyota Corolla).

  • it's a decent deal on a radian. I don't believe they go on sale often. But the true fit has a slightly higher shell than the radian, if you're worried about outgrowing by height before weight.

no. It doesn't. The true fit is a conveertible seat only. It does not turn into a booster.

  • I might go with one that goes up to 80 lbs, like Recaro and not 65, since N is taller and weighs more. ?
    47 months &
    11 months
  • Ugh...ok - so I thought I had it figured out...BUT, I've also realized that N is already 12" across (shoulder to shoulder) and the Radian is 11.5"

I never thought that buying a car seat would be so frustrating & complicated!!

  • First--don't worry about the shoulder to shoulder fit. My son is very large and can comfortably ride in a radian (the size of a 5 year old at 3.5)

It is the only convertible I would consider buying if I were in the market for one. I have 2 and love them. The shell is a hair shorter than the true fit, but the extra rear facing weight makes it a winner in my book.

BTW, I'm not a tech (yet). Just a carseat fanatic.

THANK YOU! That's good to know!  I think I'm going to go with it!

  • We have this one: https://www.amazon.com/Britax-Regent-Youth-Seat-Sahara/dp/B000UCV2SC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1259363885&sr=8-1

That's a great price right now on amazon too!  We got it when my son was a little older, so I don't know about a younger child, but it works great for us, and goes up to 80lbs.

I do believe she is looking to find a seat that will allow her daughter to remain rearfacing. The regent is a FFing only seat.
